Alright, so a new Captain is introduced, Amagai Shusuke I think his name was, and it turns out he's stark mad with revenge because Yamamoto ( guy in charge of everything at the shinigami academy ) supposedly killed Amagai's father!. It turns out Amagai's father went out to investigate about a sword that feeds off the weilder's reitsu (eventually consuming them) that was in the process of being experimented on humans!. Amagai's father got caught sneaking into their base, and was forced to weild such sword (called a bakkotou)!. The bakkotou used controlled his mind and forced him to attack Yamamoto!. Yamamoto obviously defended himself, thus killing Amagai's father all while Amagai unawaraly stood by and watched this all go down without knowing his father was being mind-controlled!. Since Amagai was still a kid around this time, he grew up wanting to take vengence on Yamamoto for killing his dad, so he went through the whole process of joining the Shinigami Academy and climbed the ranks to the top till he was appointed Captain, and that's when he tried to kill Yamamoto, but Ichigo stood in the way, and fought him!. After Ichigo had almost defeated Amagai, everyone's was like NOOO STOP! Yamamoto didnt kill your father, then proceeded to fill him in on the details!. Amagai went Woopsie, my life has been a lie!. Then he proceeded to burn himself to death with his own Zanpaktou!.
And some other stuff happened in-between, but that's the jist of it!.
