At around age 12 when I was stuck between watching Sailor Moon (a new shows on tv I didn't like at first) or watching the Little Flintstones which was a show I hated!.
I chose Sailor Moon and thankfully the show was well dubbed to spanish with no censorship (unlike the crappy dub DIC made in english) and got hooked once I saw enough episodes to understand the plot!. then MKR and Saint Seiya premiered in Mexico which are awesome shows and the rest is history!.
12 years later I still watch the stuff almost everyday!. What has changed is that I won't watch crappy anime for the sake of being anime!. I can't stand many shows (like Naruto) and I'll only watch some shows I dislike because they are so bad, they're actually good for a laugh at how bad the show is (like Wild 7 Swirling Canal)!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I was addicted to Pokemon when I was a kid and had always loved anime art, but it wasn't until I was about 16-17 that I discovered they were called anime!. I heard some people talking about how great Naruto was!. I checked it out and immediately became a hardcore anime fan!. I was suffering from depression at that time and anime cured me =)Www@Enter-QA@Com

I think I actually started to watch anime at age 6!.!.!. but at the time I had no CLUE that Pokemon was called anime!. I was addicted to it for!.!.!. oh say 1 year!. When I was 4, surprisingly!. I began with Sailor Moon, and drew little pictures of her with all the other Sailor Scouts!. After that obsession, when almost 5, I had an obsession over Pokemon and Card Captor Sakura!. We even had Sailor Moon and Card Captor Sakura cosplay at that age, and even wore it for Halloween!. Sometimes, while I was 5 years old, I would walk around in my Pikachu cosplay!. Then at age 6, I went straight to Dragon Ball Z, and watched almost every single episode until the series ended, when I was 8 years old!. At age 8 when Dragon Ball Z finished, I went through this HUGE phase of Fullmetal Alchemist until I was 10!. During my Fullmetal Alchemist phase, I also watched a ton of anime, and once I got over my obsession of Fullmetal Alchemist, maybe even during my obsession, I had a huge phase of Naruto, Bleach, and Zatch Bell!. I even bought every DVD of Naruto, Bleach, and Fullmetal Alchemist!. I got over Zatch Bell pretty quick, and then moved on to as many anime as possible!. At age 11, I got obsessed with Elfen Lied, I got all crazy over the blood and gore, it was just such a good show, I loved all the violence!. I watched tons of anime in between that I didn't go through a big phase until I saw Eureka Seven!. I was obsessed with it, I loved the show way too much and made the background for my computers Eureka Seven and changed it each week!. At age 11 I also went through a phase of Death Note, man, that is a GREAT anime!. Now I'm 12 and I've been through so many anime phases that I can't count anymore!. So let's just say my anime obsession began at age 4!. All my life I've surprisingly been an anime fan!. Now I'm a yaoi fangirl, it's so surprising how you slowly mature along with the type of anime you watch!. I think age 12 is the average as well!. I also watch other anime, I've currently watched over 70 in my life, I even have a list on my computer:

And then after that!.!. well, I abandoned anime altogether!. But not until maybe!.!.!. 2 years ago (13-ish) I started watching anime again!. My list is probably short compared to the true, hardcore fanatics of anime - but I consider myself an anime fan, nonetheless!.

first i was a hardcore DBZ fan and that was the only anime i watched or liked
