When an anime is Dubbed, Does that also mean that some scenes were taken off? ?!

Question: When an anime is Dubbed, Does that also mean that some scenes were taken off!? !?
Like this anime called Samurai Champloo!. There’s a lot of profanity involved so instead of saying the actually words, they substitute this cd scratching sound!. If it was dubbed on dvd, will they keep that scratching effect on it or will it actually use the words!? also I was told that some anime had scenes taken away, like dirty talking, sex scenes, etc!. Will they show the scenes if it going to be dubbed in English!? Anyone who actually own anime dubbed are free to share their experiences if you’re not familiar with samurai champloo!. Thanks in advance!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Most dubbed anime is largly changed in plot to keep away from swearing and parts of the plot which are not considered suitable for children in the us or uk, so yeah scenes can be taken out if there considered too violent or too much nudity and things like that!. I just happened to stumble across the perfect example!.!.!.

Sanji from One Piece, on the right is the japanese subbed version where he is a chain smoker and on the left is the 4kids english dub where instead of cigarettes he has lolly pops, it also says for the funamation dubbed version they completly edited out or redrew any scene that showed him lighting up a cigarette!.

This strays from the original plot alot because theres quite a few jokes about sanji smoking and alot of refrences to it around food and stuff!.!.!. thats just one example!.

Most of the time, any edits are left in for the DVD release (and in really big shows like DBZ and Naruto, they then later release an "uncut version" that will remove some but not necessarily all of the edits), but not always!. For example, the nudity in Code Geass was blurred out on Adult Swim, but is not blurred on DVD!. However, in some show,s the edits are so severe they have to keep them in, like with Sailor Moon changing "lesbian lovers" to "cousins"!. But even some of the edits aren't for graphic content, as with DBZ, where the there are a few places where 3 episodes were condensed into 2, just because they felt they dragged on too long!.

Samurai Champloo's vulgarity edits really felt like more of a stylistic choice, and I wouldn't be surprised if the record scratches were even in the Japanese vocal track in that case!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

well technically a dubbed anime only has english/ another language replacing the original however if it was intended for tv it may also be edited to comply with the countries laws to be shown, you can get uncut dubbs on dvd or when a channel decides to doshow it as it was intended to beWww@Enter-QA@Com

Usually they cut out the gore cause like "Americans can't handle it" But they usually kinda change the dialog around a bit!. But not much!. Www@Enter-QA@Com
