Depends what your into, Naruto, Bleach and One Piece and Death Notes are great animes and mangas but if your more into say enchi then id start with some thing like Elfen Lied!. Even if you have seen the animes of some of these the manga is more interesting because the anime like the miss out allot or go on a slightly different story line like the anime did for Special A (a school anime :P with a dense main character and rather romantic!.!.!.!.)
