I'm not entirely certain as to what kind of series you're looking for but one series I know of is "Oh my Goddess!"(Romance, Comedy)!. The OVA series consists of only 5 episodes!. You could also try watching 009-1(Espionage, Action)!. It’s a little similar to Cyborg 009; in fact I think it was actually made by the same people!. It only has 12 episodes!.
There's also another approach you could take towards Japanese animation!. There a number of anime films which only consist of the single movie itself!. If you look into watching anime movies, I would start with Princess Mononoke (Adventure, Fantasy)!. It's a very powerful film and it's full of symbolism!. If it's action that you're after, you might try "Ghost in the Shell"(Cyberpunk)!.
Just a side note!. I'm not sure if you'll find that many good anime series with 10 episodes or less!. However, there are plenty of Anime titles that consist of about 25 episodes!. Cowboy Bebop (Cyberpunk) is a true work of art and has only 26 episodes!. Neon Genesis Evangelion (Science Fiction) brings Anime into a whole new reality and has 26 episodes also!. Ghost in a Shell also has an Anime series which is separate from the movie!. It’s called “Stand Alone Complex” and it has 26 episodes too!. Tenchi in Tokyo (Fantasy) has 26 episodes as well, though it may not be as promising as the others!.

there are many ovas that are just one or two episodes long!.!.
First there is the first Dominion Tank Police series!. That consists of just four 45 min episodes that are pretty good!. The New dominion tank police series is just the same!. (you don't need to watch both for they are separate storylines)!.
You also have the OVA Strait Jacket!. It is compiled into a one hour and a half movie!. Unlike most OVA movies, this one explains alot and has a satisfying, conclusive ending!.
Heroic Legend of Arislan is okay also!. It has five or six parts!. Great start but the finish is not stellar!. Good potential though!.
Zeguy is something I have resently stumbled upon!. It consists of a girl who makes it into a different dimention and it is up to her and a few other crucial characters to save the other school girl that was mistaken for a priestess!. Funny parts and is two episodes long!. To tell you the truth, it doesn't need to be longer than that because it solves all story plots within the two episodes!. The only problem is is that I do not know if it was dubbed!. The company that had recieved the liscense was Manga Corps!. and honestly, they don't have very good dubbings!.
Suggestion: look for the company that produced FLCL!. They have some pretty awsome OVAs and maybe even some longer series that are worth paying attention to (like Abenobashi which is 13 episodes long)!. You will not be disappointed!.

Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal~ is a 4 episode OVA prequel to Rurouni Kenshin!. Even if you haven't seen Kenshin you can still see this, but it's better if you wait until after you see Kenshin to watch Trust and BetrayalWww@Enter-QA@Com
