When the original movie aired, beards were not fashionable for stars!. Only Villains sported them!. Kind of like the good cowboy wearing a white hat while the baddie always had a black one!. Once the type was cast, the other lead characters needed to be clean shaven also!. I don't think Greystoke ever added that fact to the book!. Of course, apes didn't shave, but it was assumed that he was young and had no facial hair I think!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
