Hobbes is very real to Calvin, no not very real, but real to Calvin!. He's not really the "owner" or hobbes, it's more like hobbes is his very best and treasured friend in the world!. That said, friends have fights, and because of Calvin's and Hobbes personalities they both are very competitive in games and fighting and name-calling is a part of that!. Like the one where they're playing a croquet game and start fighting and calling each other names, and his Mom tells him it's time to go in and Calvin replies with "But Mom, we're in the middle of a croquet game!."!. It's part of the game, it's superficial and in the end they both laugh it off!. Hobbes calls Calvin names too, like "Bozo, too ugly, etc!.!."Www@Enter-QA@Com
It's just something Calvin does!. It's like having a little brother or sister, and calling him/her names all the time!. You usually don't mean it, its angry in an almost affectionate sort of way!. Like I said, it's just something Calvin does!.
