Question: What do scanners do for scanlators!?
I want to know what exactly does the scanner's position entail!?

Scanners: They are the raw providers for any latest manga chapters / doujinshis!.
Let's say you're applying to be a scanner for Naruto manga!. You must fulfill these criteria:
- Live in Japan (only Japanese get the latest manga chapters easily; we worldwide readers are almost a week late getting to read it)
- Buy Shounen Jump (the Japanese version) weekly (you must know when the magazine is released, and grab it quickly so that you don't miss it)
- Have a computer with Internet access (to enable you to distribute the raws)
- have a scanner (you are to scan the original manga copy for scanlation; we call it the raw)!.
- If you can clean the raw (using Photoshop or any image-editing softwares), it's a plus!.
TL;DR!? You have the Japanese copy of the manga, you scan it, zip it, and distribute it to your scanlation team!. That's what a scanner does!.
