I don't get it. I know where to put my fingers on strings E,A,D,G, and e...But if i'm not supposed to put my finger on any frets on string B, and string e is an open string, then how am I supposed to play this note?

Pick the G string, holding your pick with your thumb and index finger. Then using your middle finger from your picking hand, pluck the open e at the same time, giving you two notes played at once.
