I am quite nervous, need advice.?!

Question:

I am quite nervous, need advice.?

This might be not an easy question to answer, but, for filmmakers out there, you might know what I am talking about.

I hired a filming company to create a 30 second short for me. That was 2 weeks ago, almost 3 weeks now. They are STILL editing it. Is this a good sign, or a bad sigh with regards to feeling not "good" about the film and what they have captured? From your experience, is this correct logic?

Answers:

are they located close to you or not? if so, then I'd stop by and see what was up.

did your contract have a time limit or a deadline date when the film was due? if not, next time, add that.

To _me_, it would seem like someone preparing even a 30 second spot for someone would be best served by having that person involved all along.

I _highly_ suggest that you be prepared to let them know - not via a hint, but in specific terms - if the resulting product is not satisfactory. Don't settle just because of the length of time. Particularly if you are paying for the resuling product. If you are paying, then you deserve to get something that meets your expectations.
