Good drum cymbals?!

Question:

Good drum cymbals?

Right now, I have Sabian B8s which I do not like. They sound cheap, look cheap, one bent inside out, others have dented/polish chipped off. I'm looking to replace them. I have 14" Hi-hats, 16" Thin crash, 18" Thin crash, and a 20" ride. I have a TAMA Superstar (will get a Starclassic in a few years). I would like some good cymbals, stuff that will last me a long time, but not spend a ton of money. Any ideas?

Maybe Sabian AAs or Zidiljian A Customs, but those are EXTREMELY expensive ($1,000+) to replace all the cymbals.

Forgot to add that I play a lot of punk/pop rock (Blink-182 type sh'tuff) and I seem to damage my B8s and drum sticks very nicely.

Answers:

Sounds like you are hard hitter.

Try Zildjian Z Customs. Their pro-level cymbals (made with Zildjian's best metal, B20 Bronze) and designed for hard hitters.

It's true, you will pay more, but their worth it. A good set of cymbals will last you close to a life time.

If money is an issue, try buying them used. You should save about 50% of retail for used cymbals in good to excellent condition. Used cymbals tend to hold their value as well. If you decide you want to sell them after a year and their still in good shape then you should get back what you paid for them.

Check craigslist and ebay for the best deals. Used cymbals at the local drum shop or Guitar Center are marked up to high.

Good luck!!
