Firecrackers are still legal in Arizona, and some small fireworks, like sparklers. Partly due to the fire hazard (drought) and partly due to the personal injury hazard, a lot of fireworks are illegal. You can only buy fireworks in states in which it is legal. I know you used to could buy them in New Mexico - but then it's illegal to transport them across the border to another state. :-)
