First fret buzz?!

Question:

First fret buzz?

Ok so im tuned and stuff and ive adjusted my action several times but my low e string will buzz on occassion. It's not hardcore when i hit the string till it stops ringing but ill hit the string and it will start clean then hit the little fret marker, try this hit one of your strings then press the side of your pick against it lightly thats what it sounds like it doesnt buzz when i hit the fretss or when i play softly, and the guitars brand new so i don't think the truss rod has anything to do with it but it might, help please?

Answers:

The neck should have a slight concave curve to it. This is what the truss rod is for. To check it hold the string down in the first and twelfth frets. There should be a very small space under the string at around the fifth fret. If not, you need to tighten the truss rod.

The only other thing that comes to mind is that the groove in the nut for your low E might simply be too deep. In that case about the only thing you can do is replace the nut.

You might also try a slightly heaver gage string.
