Whats the best program or synthesizer to use when making electronica/techno for a beginner?

A common entry level device is the Roland MC-303. It is a drum machine/synthesizer/sequencer all in one. You will be capable of making good sounding electronica. There are better unit out but with a heftier price tag. You can get these on ebay between $190-300. Then you could get cakewalk, acid pro, or any of the other music editing software and be making quality tracks in no time.
Word of advice. Its a lot harder than pushing a button and making a song. Read up as much as possible on synths, sequencers, MIDI, editing, and other computer related music mixing. Good luck!
