What is the difference between cutaway acoustic and reg acoustic guitar???!

Question:

What is the difference between cutaway acoustic and reg acoustic guitar???

I have an electric, and acoustic but the acoustic is to big an hard for me to look at what i'm doing since I am just starting to learn. And I was thinking of getting a cutaway acoustic guitar. So what is the different between a regular acoustic and cutaway acoustic???? Thanks

Answers:

I was having the same dilemma about a year ago. I've been playing for eight years and finally decided to buy a new guitar. I definitely wanted an acoustic, but wasn't sure about the cutaway. I ended up getting a cutaway and LOVE it (its an Alvarez artist series).

There really isn't a big difference sound wise, the cutaways are generally somewhat quieter because there is less room inside fit the acoustics. But when you buy a cutaway the majority of them come with electrics (almost everyone i looked at did) which raises the price.

You were saying something about the size, and I don't know how small you are but you could look in to getting a 3/4 guitar, that's what i learned on. Also they make smaller bodied guitars (like the epiphone hummingbird which is an excellent guitar for the price) you may have bought a folk guitar before which has a larger body making it harder to peer over, so try for one smaller.

As for the regular-cutaway look its really up to what look you prefer, i did prefer the cutaway so that's what i bought. The sound of each are comparable, and one is not going to be smaller than the other. The size has a lot to do with the make (dreadnought, folk, ect) so look for that and decided what look you like better; regular acoustic or cutaway.
