If you play the violin, can you play the guitar?!

Question:

If you play the violin, can you play the guitar?

Answers:

Many of my students play both instruments and do very well. The main thing you want to remember is that with the guitar, you put the fingers of your left hand down just behind the fret. Many violin players try to put their fingers directly over the fret and the steel frets can actually bruise your fingertips. I know that it isn't really necessary to tell this to everyone, but if I can save one person from bruising their fingertips unnecessarily, I really don't mind looking a little silly to everyone else.

I hope you really enjoy the guitar and if you need any help, call on me anytime, as long as you don't mind the fact that I sometimes belabor the obvious.
