Playing da Drums???
I was considering starting with the drums. Does anyone here play the drums or have any advice? If you do play, do you enjoy it? I want it to be something that I will enjoy playing day in and day out.

I've been playing drums for several years now (read here: more then half my life) and never had a single reason to regret it! Actualy the only thing I regret with playing drums are the 2 years I've HAVEN'T played. I know it kept me from doing stupid thing when I was younger, and kept me from being bored all my life!
I started out on my own, figuring it as I went along, and eventually took some lessons. There are so many available ressources today that you can really learn all by yourself. I've haven't took a lessons in years now and constantly keep on improving my playing. Internet is an unlimited source of learning material if you take the time to search a bit. Like anything else, the bottom line is: how motivated are you? How long will it take before you get good at it? How many hours a day/week can you invest in it? Music (like most anything that's physical) is all about muscle memory. When asked: How you lay a perfect side kick, Bruce Lee's answer was: Go throw 500 kicks! Just like sports, music is all about repetition, when you stop thinking about what your doing, you can start creating!
That being said I think drums are alot easier to start than any other musical instrument. Any body can sit behind a drum and have fun within an hour or so....can you say that about playing guitare or piano?
Bottom line is: go ahead, invest yourself (and a little money), and you'll probably discover that a) you're better than you thought you'd be, b) music is probably the most rewarding thing in the world!
