Which guitar should I get?!

Question:

Which guitar should I get?

I am a beginner guitarist and want a good guitar for metal that I won't grow out of. I am willing to spend up to $350 or more if the guitar is really worth it. I play mostly metal. I was looking at the Ibanez RG5EX1 and RG3EX1. Are they good guitars even though they are guitar center exclusives? I was also looking at an Ibanez RG321, the schecter Omen 6, and the Schecter Damien 6. I really liked th RG5EX1 but it has a tremolo which I've heard can be hard to tune and restring. Thanks for all your help.

Answers:

I have been playing guitar for over 25 years and the RG5EX1 seems to be the best of the bunch. It's got 3 pickups and a 5 way switch which is useful for dialing up plenty of sounds from metal-rock-blues-pop and everything else in between. The body is made up of basswood which is the same type of woods used in Joe Satriani's $1,600 guitar. Looks fast and easy to shred so you can burn scales and modes all day long.

Playing with a tremolo is a matter of preference. You can be a Zakk Wylde or a Slash that don't use trems or you can also be a Kirk Hammet (Metallica), Herman Li and Sam Totman (Dragonforce), Alexi Laiho (Children of Bodom) who love trems. Either way until you find your own voice and style, learning to use (and string) a tremolo is a basic skill that must be mastered in order to be appreciated by all new guitar inductees to the metal militia.
