Is Evan O'Dorney, the kid who won the 2007 spelling bee autistic?
If he's not his parents sure messed him up. I feel bad for him. Normal social interaction should be a requirement in homeschooling curriculum's.

I don't know anything about autism, but I tend to think the home schooling destroyed him. He just takes everything so personally and doesn't get the subtlety of language. That's what happens when you spend all day in a dictionary instead of talking to people. Plus look at the way he sat in his mothers lap and cuddled during commercial breaks at the bee.

You know I just read about autism on Wikipedia, and he has all the symptoms. I still think the home-schooling is just doing more damage. He has the capability to learn to be social but he is not being exposed to it.
