I want to be a comedian?!

I want to be a comedian?

I already know try my hand at open mike night and keep trying till I am good at getting the crowds going and build up a fan base. Any other tips on how to polish my routine, come up or write better material (tricks of the trade?) and the most important, how does getting paid for a show work?

Any other advice would be welcomed.

I am white and as of now, I am not famous enough to get away with such jokes. I am not fit enough to out run a lynch mob, however it may be the key thing to help me lose a few pounds.

I already know what jokes I am going to say and alot of it is based on my life. I did not do it before for I did not have really anything to comment on. Now I do.

improv sometimes...racial jokes... i hate to say it.. but it works... sometimes try making your race looks bad.. for example: im black/haitian so i might say something like "damn i hate black/haitian people, why they always gotta be loud. esp in restaurants, i mean be like the white people. just wait and sit. i mean the damn sign says "Free Chicken All You Can Eat" meaning that you aint gotta go to the front and ask "Do We Gotta Pay!?" you know i just made that up so i dont know if its funny. but thats what i mean by put YOUR race down. or else you look racist
