TV/ Movie rating - what happened if someone below the recommended age is"ca!

Question:

TV/ Movie rating - what happened if someone below the recommended age is"caught" watching the show/ movie?

Is it just a recommended practice or is it enforced by law? Also, it seems doesn't matter if the actors/ actresses in the show is below the "legal" age? For example, Shay and Jared in the L Word? Or, the little girl in Exorcist? She is not allowed to enter the cinema on its premier screening?

Anybody any idea?

Answers:

Usually, they'll just be kicked out of the theater, legal action is usually not taken. Legal action may be taken against a movie theater that consistently and knowingly allows minors into R-rated movies.

I work at a movie theater and one day, our manager was helping to sell tickets. He sold a few tickets to a mother for Knocked Up, he made sure that, if any minors were seeing the movie, she would be with them. He watched the woman walk out to her car, give the tickets to her kids, then drive off. He had to run after the kids and refused them admission into the movie. They had to switch their tickets for another movie.
