Question:
Why doesn't the mass majority have their own musical opinion anymore?
What I mean is, why do people not listen to something original anymore? Why do they just listen and watch whatever mainstream media shoves down their throat? In this age where we have access to millions of bands on the internet, people still base their music taste on American Idol or the MTV top 10 or whatever? They have to be told what to like? Why is the herd mentality so prevalent?
Answers:
When the majority of teenagers get home from school, they switch on the boob tube and go to MTV. It's free for them and it requires near to no energy. Same with college students. They listen to the free music, somehow it clicks that they like it, and they rush out to buy CDs. Brainwashed sheeple.
Me, I get my free music courtesy of the Mom and Dad All You Can Sneak CD Case. When they're missing a Heart or a Led Zeppelin, they come straight to me :D
