Guitar tapping not working for me, need help?!

Question:

Guitar tapping not working for me, need help?

How come when I tap the strings, it only produces a faint sound not loud. Usually when you tap them, they are damn loud, right? Mine isn't. Although I tap them real hard, it doesn't work

Am I tapping hard enough?

Please help!

Answers:

First, make sure your amp is loud enough for you to hear it clearly... If you only hear a faint sound, tap harder... Don't be afraid.. really slam those fingers down! Tapping for me always works best with a neck that has just a tiny bit of relief and low action. After you have the basic technique down, practice is key. My guess on it all would be that you aren't tapping hard enough. Just keep working, if you want it, you will get it!

That link has a few tips, it might just be re-enforcing what you already know, but you might pick up something that give you that "ah-ha now I got it" moment. Good luck and don't give up!
