Does all the commercialism and fabrication in music upset anyone else?!

Question:

Does all the commercialism and fabrication in music upset anyone else?

i feel like the mainstream music industry is a pretty sad scene. people try so hard to make money, theyre always lying about who they are, women are taking off their clothes for money, men are selling violence, etc. cos so many "artists" lie about what their musics about, pretending to have actually played a part in writing their songs, or pretending to care about the influence they have on the world, its hard to trust other musicians who are actually true. so many pop bands are having a bad effect on people - lets use the p ussy cat dolls as an example, these women cant keep their clothes on, and in their songs have lyrics such as "youve got a real big heart but im looking at your _" but then in interviews claim theyre singing about womens independence and love. when kids watch this over and over again, it becomes normal to them. this is wrong! human beings arent supposed to lie about everything and sell their bodies to make money. just wondered if this was upsetting anyone else?

Answers:

It is ironic, isn't it? What with the supposed equal status of men and women... but I guess women now use their bodies as a conscious tool for attention and money (in some arenas) and they use their sexual attractiveness for pecuniary gain. Is that prostitution? Well arguably of a sort, but I think if they are not being FORCED to it, we can hardly sympathise with them.

As regards music itself, you know my opinion: if the music causes pleasure by virtue of its artistry and beauty then if the lyrics are 'bad', I don't have a problem with it. I know that sounds like a contradiction, but what I mean is that if the music gives you 'that tingle', I would enjoy it just as a song of greater profundity.
