Question:

What is finger-plucking?? and how do you do it???

So i'm trying to learn lost without you by robin thicke on the guitar but apparently you need to finger-pluk the chords and i don't know what that mean, could anyone explain it or direct me to a website where they could...please and thank you! :)

obviously you need to use your fingers but is there a particular order, if you listen to lost without you it might be easier to understand what i mean: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3_gii4ec...

You Tube can help a little.

There’s a clear look at a gent name Alfonso C. playing “Lost Without You” at this link:

Or for a closer look at just the fretboard (to see the left-hand chording), here:

If you’re learning to play and you can’t get the hang of finger plucking (or finger-picking as it is sometimes called), there’s nothing wrong with “faking it” a little, which is to just play the chords of the song and mimic the feel of it as best as you can while strumming (with a pick or with your bare fingertips).
These are jazz chords, however, and they are not finger shapes that are easy to make for the beginner. (There are no easy open chords – G, D, Em, C, A, etc. – in “Lost Without You.”)
Robin Thicke makes it sound sweet and simple, but that’s the magic!
Switching from one jazz chord to another whilst simultaneously finger-picking is an art that comes with much practice. Good luck, Beautiful Diva!
