What are the top forums (not product related/non-commercial), communities or fan sites in the US?

(Pls note I'm not referring to social networking sites such as myspace / friendster. My question refers to top user forums or user communities/ fan sites). Need your help pls...

Let me just clarify my question. I think it's a bit confusing =P What I'm asking for are list of popular sites or communities which are non-commercial in nature. Just exclude myspace, friendster, bebo, facebook, tagged, and other social networking sites on the list. But it can be forums, fan sites, and other popular user group communities on the net.

I am not sure what you are looking for, since you don't want product related, non commercial, no fan sites, or social networking sites. What else is there? I hope this info helps~
