Need help with Fender guitars!!!?!

Question:

Need help with Fender guitars!!!?

I just bought what was listed as a "1998 Fender Stratocaster 1960 re-issue". When I got it, it was in pretty good shape and everything seemed fine. But as I was looking on Fender's web site, i noticed that serial numbers with MN8 plus 5 more digits are from 1998 but my serial number has MN8 plus 6 more digits. This is my first time owning a Fender and I just want to be sure everything is 100% authentic. On my stratocaster, it says "made in mexico" and on the front of the headboard, there's the fender brand name, "STRATOCASTER", and "original contour body".

If any one knows anything about how to tell a fender stratocaster (a real one) apart from a fake, could you please help me? I hope this purchase was a good one - and I hope I didn't spend everything on something fake.

Answers: I know that Fender makes Strats in mexico, I own one. They are less expensive, and the American made ones are better than the Mexico ones, but they're still both very good quality instruments. I would probably call Fender and give them the serial number and they could probably check to see if it's real or not. Well your first clue is where it was made, all REAL strats are made in the USA, if you paid a lot for this guitar (over 600 dollars) you got suckered. It probably was built by a susidary but it is not American crafted so the value is bubkis.
