Question:

Hip Hop vs. America???

What are your views on Hip Hop and how it is portrayed in todays generation? What are the advantages and disadvantages of Hip Hop in America? In what ways does/doesn't it benefit our society? Which is the real issue, Hip Hop or the artists (in Hip Hop) and the message they deliver?

Personally I believe that the artists in Hip Hop should be held somewhat responsible as well as the consumers that buy their music. It is possible that Hip Hop can be used for good... There are a lot of artists that talk about the problems in the streets and it is portrayed in their songs...But rarely do they give the solution to those problems. These artists whether it's hip hop, country or rock music are no better than a news reporter because all they report is negativity...So if you're always around negativity and used to always hearing negativity then most likely the way you think will be negative. I feel that nobody has the right to discuss and examine a problem if they don't provide a solution to that problem. And the "only" solution to every problem whether it's in the hood, suburbs, or a foreign country is "JESUS CHRIST." By these artists actions you see that money is their God.

And if these artists truly cared about our society then they would be willing to sacrifice...Sacrifice the opportunity for their songs to be played on BET, MTV, or even winning an award. Their actions shows that they're all about making the money and they don't care what image or message they deliver to society just as long as they're getting paid. It may be a character issue.... What do you think?

What do you think? As much as I hate the images hip hop displays(sex, violence, money is "GOD") , but we can't just blame hip hop.
Why?
Because we have to blame the fans. The people who buy the music and dances to it everytime it is played. I was watching HH vs. America last night and the more I watched it the more I understood that it is not all hip hops fault. It is also ours. Because ask any person who listens to rap/hip hop. They would probably say they would rather listen to a song made by Lil Wayne then Nas or Common. Source(s):
HH vs. America and my own views Please, leave Hip-Hop alone. How can you be disrespected by Hip-Hop when you watch desperate house wifes and Boston Legal. Primttime televison is saturated with sex and nauseating tampoon comericals.

Hip-Hop is not that offensive. Women should give themselves a reality check. Televison itself is disrespecting not only women, but our youth. If you want to blame someone, blame Hollywood, fashion designers, anorexic female models and drugs. If it wasn't for the ills of Holly wood and its lust for money, Hip-Hop would not exist. You should channel your blame to greedy money nabbing bartards that rape the identity of your perfect daughters and sons and our capitialistic society that rewards the rich and ignores the poor.

I can only hope that Hip-Hop doesn't become the
scape goat of Hollywood and a money hungry industry that hides behind a moral compass that is truly broken. I truely don't understand why this is such a huge issue. Sure there's song that contain negative things, but you can turn on the T.V. and see the news with the latest school shooting or people gettting killed. Money. Thats very interesting, God is money, money is god, personally I don't believe that this so called god exsists. With that in mind, people who by these records and what not, they have a choice to interpert it the way they want, nobody is making them do bad things certainly not the hip-hop artists. This issue is getting boring and questioned to many times.
