Ok, so people in the media....movies, tv and so on get paid millions of dollars to entertain. At the same time people like doctors, firemen, nurses, and military get paid next to nothing in comparison. People that save our lives and protect us! Anyone else see something wrong with this? Heather, I agree with your answer for the most part. The only part I have a problem with is the part where you said the doctors get paid well. ??? A doctor makes AT the most $400,000 a year. While that is (I guess) good pay. Most big movie stars make MILLIONS a film! I just don't know how you can put a price on saving a life or protecting our country with your life!? I mean really is that good pay for saving lives? I don't think there is money enough for that!!!

How about the teachers and professors that taught them how to save lives. They don't make nearly as much either.

The reason movie stars make so much is because people pay to see them. People want to escape their every day lives and watching sports, or movies allows them to do that. The companies that hire them are willing to pay them top dollar, because they are also making top dollar by having them in their movies or on their teams. If people didn't pay these corporations, then they wouldn't be making that kind of money.
Think of it this way. Say your local fireman, or your physician made millions every year, who would be able to afford their services (most can't afford medical services now)? These people chose their professions, I hope, because they wanted to make a difference in peoples lives. To them, that is their million dollar paycheck. You are looking at this from a purely financial perspective, when in reality you need to be looking at it on more of an emotional level. They may not be making gobs of money, but they are still getting something out of it or they wouldn't go into that profession. Not all of us need or want to make millions to feel we have a fulfilling life. Don't forget teachers That's just the way it is. first of all, doctors get paid well, nurses could be better paid. however, the police officers, firemen, military personnel, and teachers are all getting the short end of the stick. i agree with you, why are people getting paid so much to act, sing, or hit a baseball? it's ridiculous! and what's more ridiculous? these people go out and spend millions on houses and cars and rarely give anything to charity. Can you imagine the difference they could all make if they all gave just 1/4 of their income to charity? 1/2 would be better? trying to tell me they can't live on 20 million instead of 40 million a year? Nope, won't happen, they have 9 million dollar homes to pay for and the 7 different styles of bentley's to keep polished! MOST (but not all) rich people are selfish by nature. Dumbest thing I've ever heard. They are paid millions, because they make the studio's millions. You are usually paid proportionally to what you earn your company. You are like any business investment, if I could buy a new machine or tool for my company that could make me $10 milllion, I would pay $1 million for it, or would that not be fair to the machines that are only a few thousand dollars? It's about ROI (return on investment) So stop hating on entertainers (as dumb as they are) because they make more money. and remember, in America, nothings stopping you from dropping out of med school and move to L.A. to pursue an acting career. i think thats really retarted how like all these people like save lives but yet they arnts getting paid as much as peopl ein the meadia Money makes the world go 'round. Entertainers make a lot of money for corporations and franchises that's why they get all the attention and all the cash. Everything is superficial and artificial. p.s. not joking... You are obviously confused. Let me explain the plain truth. People in movies have to learn to shoot real guns, dance in choreography, perform real surgery and do flips in their cars. For example, when George Clooney was in ER, he was a REAL doctor doing real life procedures. In the Perfect Storm he had to learn how to be a REAL sailor. So, he gets paid millions because he is a real doctor, a real sailor, a real soldier, a real space ship pilot, etc. I hope this clarifies your misconceptions. yeah, that is so very twisted It comes down to generating income. People admire and respect firemen, but no one is willing to pay $12.00 a piece to watch them work. They get paid by taxes, and tax payers tend to HATE paying more. doctors get paid good but not as good as a celebrity now the rest including a teacher should get paid more! that's life! If you could become famous, you'd jump right on in, wouldn't you! I'm a social worker in Child Protection and my friend is a teacher. Both of us work with the public. She molds the minds of our children. I try to protect children. And we make under $40,000!!!
This countries priorities are jacked up!!! there is a lot wrong with that, but even more so with our teachers not getting paid as well as garbage men or something like that. i so agree..if we can live on $40-60k (or much much less), THEY certainly can, too

but i totally agree with you! doctors should get paid more! yes. IF i was famous I would give money to firedepts and stuff because they dotn always have gear they really need....i'd probably research .....find the ones in most need....WHAT if....you started an heroes association so we could atleast make suer they had the equiptment needed to keep us safe...and every year you could purchase something an emergency response department REALLY needed! i'd totally donate if i had money... yes for sure! i agree 100% It is wrong, but then ... life *is* wrong. life is not fair.
