How can I get the rust off the frets on my Electric Guitar???!

Question:

How can I get the rust off the frets on my Electric Guitar???

My guitar is about 3 years old and it hasn't been used since a few months ago... Sadly the frets (the metal parts) are all rusty... So is there anyway I can get rid of the rust and make my guitar look as good as new???

Answers: Take a toothbrush and some rubbing achole and scrub the frets if that don't work try some light sand paper but take the strings off first. After you done this use some old English and rub the neck down real good to make sure you don't Stan the wood. Source(s):
30years of playing guitar yeah, mate, stop leaving it out in the rain the obvious steel wool If the rust is obvious try to use a fine sandpaper to scratch the rust, then apply a metal polish so that it will look new Of course there are ways to get the rust off.You can use paint if you want.after painting it,you can paint your guitar with zinc.as zinc is more reactive than iron, zinc will sacrifice to prevent your guitar from rusting.Oh ya,don't play with your guitar when your hands are wet.Because rusting requires water and oxygen to rust.Hope my answer helped you. WD-40 and a rag, wet the rag with WD-40 and try rubbing the rag in the frets until the rusts comes off (btw WD-40 is available in hardware stores and supermarkets) By rubbing the frets with sand paper or applyng anti-rust liquid on the frets.
