I would take a small hatchet. With that you can cut wood for a fire that I could start with my glasses. You can also peel bark for shelter, dig with it for roots, and use it as a hammer for various other tasks. It my opinion, it is more valuable in a situation like you described that a Swiss army knife (who really needs a bottle opener or a cork screw when stranded?)
