Why are the harry potter first editions selling so cheaply on amazon?!

Probably because there were so many first Editions that they are not really rare. Also probably because Amazon doesn't realize the treasure that they hold in their hands.
The print run was probably in the tens of thousands so they will not be rare. Especially after the success of the first book!!
