If someone is 2 years and 7 months older or younger than you...?!

Question: ... do you consider him/her to be 2 or 3 years older or younger than you, in practical terms?

One thing I have noticed and which I find funny, is that people who were born in the first semester of the year (from January to October) only take into consideration the year one was born to tell how younger or older they are, while people who were born in the second semester of the year take into consideration also the month.

For instance.

I have a cousin who has told my brother he is 6 years older than him.
However, I myself consider that he's 7 years older than him.
Because he was born on 5 January 1967, while my brother was born 24 December 1973.

When I was a young girl, I had classmate whose birthday was on 14 May, and until 13 May, she used to say she was 13, and never questioned myself when I said I was 14.
However, from 14 May, every time I said I was 14, she used to argue with me, and say I was 15. I said I was 14, because I would only turn 15 in October.

I think I would probably say 2 1/2 years cause nobody wants to round up ages. It depends wether I want that person to sound older or if im trying to make a point that he's not that old. Otherwise just 2 1/2.

depends on how a person looks at it i guess.......i mean we dont say "hey you are 1 yr 7 months older than me"...we either say we are 1 yr or 2........etc.....

Not sure whom i agree with. To me it would seem like your brother is in fact 6 years older. he would not be 7 years older until his full seventh year alive which would not be until December. it would only be 7 years if you round up. he is actually, as stated 6years & 11 months. You go by the age your friend is on the date your brother was born which was...6 years & 11 months.

It's just like cutting an 800 mg pill in half. Does it = 400mg now? i would say NO because the content in the 800mg is not the same as the potency in the 400 mg, but you may say different.

It's all in perception.
thanks for the brain break.

And yes...i was born in April
