Why are live performances so off tune?!

Question: When singers perform live, their pitch is off tune and it doesn't sound nearly as good in the music videos. Why does it do that, are they all frauds? Doesn't anybody notice this and do anything about it?

Whe you perform live you have the music blasting out to the front of you. If it is a big arena, it blasts out and then comes back to your ear so apart from the fact that you are trying to sing to the music that has just happened not the music you hear, you can't really hear yourself. Unless you have an earpiece with the music and your vocals in your ear as they happen. This is why when artists record, it's in their ear and they also hear their own voice at the same time. (also studios can sharpen or flatten if you go off the note - cheating really) Unless an artist has perfect pitch and can sing any note that you ask them to, perfectly, most will go flat because they can't hear exactly where they should be.

dont worry about it but i do have good news...i got 2 points woo

Some acts just aren't that great. Many acts are man-made, so to speak. Because there's so much more media and, consequently, more room for more acts, there's a very large list of acts that were put together for the sole purpose of making money. These are not bands that got together and struggled as it used to be. Many acts are created first (meaning someone designs them before the members of the act are selected), then put out like one puts out new products for purchase. This is what many are, products for purchase. You'll find that the true artists are those that stand the test of time. They are not trendy. They start off with the dream and talent. They will evolve through time. Take someone like Sting for example. He started on one level but continues to outdo himself because he is a work in progress. I believe that he will be until his dieing day.
Actually, I've seen some acts that are better live than in the recording studio. Lionel Richie and Tina Turner are phenomenal!

Well when you record and you hit a note wrong you just do it over and they can play with the effects so that its sounds better, and when your on tour your playing at a different place everyday and the sound guys have to try and make it sound as good as they can in a short amount of time. Also when you play practically every other day it takes a toll on your vocals
