What is your view on ticket touts/scalpers? It makes me sick as it prevents true!

Question: ing events etc. How on earth do the ticketting people allow so many ticks get to these people and also to agencies who really rip you off. What about certain performers e.g Barbra Streisand, who are great but rip you off with the original ticket price? Have you any personal experiences about exhorbitant price hiking, and what could be done to prevent it? My solution is not to buy them, but the problem is that richer people will.

welllllll nowww .. seems if u be addicted to someone and u want soooo bad to see them but u dont have aticket you may have to pay for your addiction.. are their not black marketers also everywhere?? i suppose in their own way they do provide a service,, yes its based on greed and not love .. that is todays society though ! mj

They piss me off. They buy tickets in towns that they don't even live in and sell the tickets at prices that the normal person can't pay. They need to make it where you can only buy tickets for the state that you live in. Maybe that will cut back on some of the scalpers.

I think it's disgusting. I heard about how ticket agents got hold of all the tickets for the "Hannah Montana" before the public ever had a chance at them and then re-sold them at hugely inflated prices. I heard they were going as high as $2500 per ticket. This practice deprived a lot of people the opportunity to see this show because they couldn't afford the tickets.

Personally i believe there should be a regulation as to how many tickets one is allowed to purchase at a single moment. Say um average family of 4. Four is max ticket. If more are needed then they can double up. The problem is these scalpers, and agencies get first dibs on the tickets and are buying hundreds in bulk. Then they turn around and sell them at a huge profit for themselves. then to throw it in you have those who are selling "fake" tickets for a rediculous amount of money.
The solution would be stop looking at concerts, sporting events or other events as a "Must have", its like a materialistic greed fest, just look at the montana concert recently for kids. Tickets were going as high as $3000 for a pair.
If people would get together, and protestesting by not attending the events, hopefully the artists ,and scalpers would see that the amount they are charging is too high.

Then again it does go with the old supply demand. There is such a great demand for these events, that it doesnt matter what the cost is. Sadly people will pay for it

Hey keefbeef,

You said it! I hate to pay so much for tickets that are resold at way more than the original price.

I think that performers could get a lot of good PR if they paid more attention to this problem for their most loyal fans.

Here's what I think they could do:
only sell tickets at the event venue and only begin ticket sales two hours before the event begins. That way there's no time for the ticket to be resold and only people who really want to go to the event.
