What does it mean?

It means you play the note and let it ring while pulling your finger that is pressing down on the string the note is on off then pressing down again. Do this several times. It should sound like the note is going up and down slightly. If the note you are "hammer on" ing is an open note, hammer onto the first fret of that string.

Here is an awesome website for learning basic guitar techniques:

Let's say you're right-handed, you hit a note with your left hand and strum it with your right hand then u immediately tap your left hand finger on the note you're supposed to hammer on.. hope it helps

hammer on. a little hard to explain. but basicly it means to play the string and then hit down on the fret with ur finger. it depends where in the song it is. like if the string is still vibrating then u hit down and hold the fret with ur finger. god its hard to say in words but easy to do.

ill try to explain...hammer-ons are when you hit a note or fret without hitting the string with a pick or your fingers or w/e bassicly your putting your 2nd finger on the other fret next to the one your finger is already on etc...a vibrato is kinda like bending the string up and down while your finger(s) are on the fret...
