well, dependin how old you are, ITS FANTASIC! Its a midnight show, were the people in the audience dress up like the eccentric characters of the movie, through toilet paper at the screen, and newbies wear V's on there head to signify virgin goers!! Really there is nuthin scary about it, but def adult content

Scary stuff don't watch it

They usually have midnight showings, and people dress up, yell things at the screen at certain times, possibly draw on your face if you're a "virgin" or first timer.

Don't be afraid. It's just a musical comedy with transvestites:

it is just a movie...
but people go to drive ins and dress up as the characters. its this big party sort of thing where people go dressed up and watch the movie together, sing the songs and dance to all the dances in the movie. its pretty crazy but its not a really big thing.

it was a bad movie from the 70s

Tim Curry and the semi gay subject matter and how it made fun of the 50s type couple who get lost, etc. made it sort of interesting

then kids started acting the roles, some speculate that it was an acceptible way for kids to sort of "come out" to their friends. Anyway, fans would shout along and bring rice and toilet paper and other things. Some kids went to see it 100 times.

you could rent it, but it would not be the same as the full theatre experience

Just go see the movie - they traditionally have a showing at midnight. People will come in costume, and some will act out the movie in front of the screen (usually as a spoof), along with lots of physical gags (throwing bread, squirting water guns at the audience, etc.) It's a lot of fun, and the movie isn't scary - after all, it's a comedy (abeit a black comedy.)

Go and see it - it's well worth it!

I'm old...saw it when it first came out...(back in the 70's)..it's a 'cult' film...making fun of old sci-fi and horror movies..it's not scary. It's mostly silly and scarcastic....

hey, Kshorty. how old is too old? i'm 54 and i've been to see rhps. it was a blast. anyway, it's not scary. i can't really add much because the other answerers have it pretty much covered.

This was a 70's movie and lots of people went to midnight
showings. People would dress up and memorize the script
so they could recite it verbatim (I just went for the fun of all
the crazy stuff) of course being in San Diego, Ca beach
community had to make it more fun. Lots of drunks etc...
party days the movie itself was funny not scary and
Tim Curry really was the star. Memories......

It was fun for years especially around Halloween.
