Question: people take one look at me, and think im a freak just because i listen to some awesome metal. my favorite metal bands are In Flames, Dimmu Borgir, Zao, and Into Eternity.
oh, and people started spreading these rumors that i worship satan (not that i dont care or anything), but the main question is, are most americans so stupid, they judge people before they get to know them, or is it just me?

Well...I wouldn't say only americans, if you go to other countries the kids would probably make up retarted rumors there too, but I think they are dumb for making rumors about the kind of music you like. I've had MANY rumors about myself from me doing one thing I'm not going to say what I did.
I have had that problem, as have many of my mates...
I found that if you just agree with everything they say, they tend to give up.
I saw Dimmu twice this year less than 5 months apart!

People always judge a book by it's cover. I can remember being like 15 with a Metallica backpatch on my jean jacket, and none of the girls I liked wanted to talk to me. (I wanted cheerleaders, by the way) but after a while, you break down their stereotypes and get the cheerleader. Then you ruin them, just like I did!
Yes I agree... maybe not all americans are stupid, but yeah their are alot of people who just judge others because they are sick of judging themselves. They nothing better to do in their lives then to just stare and ponder on why people are very different from them. By the way great bands that you like. But besides that all you have to do is just get used to all the crap that dumb people are going to say but just remember their dumb and that's why they are saying it!

I went through it also, bro. I played bass in a heavy metal band back in the day (although right now VERY FEW people who meet me believe it !!).
It's amazing how much truth one can find in Heavy Metal music. I'm not saying Ultimate Truth, but realities that are often overlooked by people in the mainstream --- issues dealing with politics, injustice, isolation, lonliness.
My musical tastes have changed quite a bit but I still tune into Disturbed, Black Sabbath or Tool once in a while.
If people didn't judge you to be a "freak" it would be something else. People like to judge; they just hate BEING judged.
I listened to Grind and metal in high school (still do) and i gotta tell ya that most people are stupid... they naturally assume just because you wear plain black clothes you suppose to worship satan. Ignore those f**gots
About those who would judge you before they know you, just consider the source, would you really want to be friends with people that shallow anyhow? Just live a good life, and ignore the haters. If you're still in high school or something like that, I can tell you that college is different. Rock on!

Maybe they're judging you based upon how you present yourself. I judge people too. I'm sure you do it all the time. Until you get to know someone, all you have to go on is how they present themselves. Thats life.
