No.I avoided Tesco today as there was a 6 foot tall Pudsey bear by the door getting punched in the gut by local kids going home from school.I'm sick of having to keep dishing out money for things like this.I've yet to know of any poor kids that have benefited from the likes of Children In Need.
Never, I only give to a charity where I Know exactly who the recipients will be and never to one who meddles in politics or religion

These days I have chosen two charities that I donate to on monthly basis, I selected them based on my own belief about the most deserving charity efforts. I picked one for Mental Health and one for the poor in the developing world.
At Christmas I give them extra and I do money raising campiagns for them. I also selected these charities because they don't run glitzy ad campaigns nor attempt to emotionally blackmail the public into giving, neither do they use "celeb" begging endorsements. They run good, silent and helpful operations which are interested in having only a direct effect and have no interest in "spin", true charities in my book and deserving, underated causes. The rest I avoid because no one person can do everyhting and we should all develop our own ideas about our individual crusades and passions, not be manipulated by spin and give in to glitzy guilt trips.
The only street collectors I donate to are the Haig Fund, the old veterans who sell Poppies for the memory of the war dead and the benefit of the war wounded, it's two important to avoid them I feel and I donate a Christmas fee to them too. I'm afraid that ritzy, glitzy, showbizzy charity events like Children in Need turn my empathy switch right off!
