That's old school studio equipment. Crossfader's been around since Post World War 2. Tom Dowd, Atlantic Records genius and Les Paul did a lot to advance studio techniques including inventing most of the equipment you know about today. Grandmaster Flash was just good at getting this equpment out to the masses.
