just don't trash the house and be careful in the kitchen..
have some friends over, or just relax and do your favourite things you can't do when your family are there.. :)
look for Christmas presents. or just snoop around.
Never throw a party that's a natural disaster for being on punishment for a long time. Just invite two of your best friends and just hang out and call boys all night. That's the safiest way of not getting in trouble.
