hi blue, no i dont think they can with out freddie mercury

They have had thier hay day,,,,since 1991 they have lost direction,,

I'm with you, wont be the same

i don't think so, when bands come back and/or have new or less people they usually are worse...... in my opinion any.

xx

Don't know, but maybe they will puts something good together, They have always been great, I'm not going to doom them before they start.

Never be the same again... R.I.P. Freddie

times have changed, music tastes have changed, they are much older now and without Freddie the band cant be a band. i say let them bask in the greatness of the old records

Queen WAS Freddie Mercury, his song writting, his voice, his overdubbed harmonies, his charisma, and without him they can never be the same or anywhere near, although with Paul Rodgers they will kick a s s thats for sure and be far better than some of the modern bands.

It can never be the same, they lost their frontman, and what a frontman he was!

Still, something good could come out of it- Brian May's 1991 'Back Into The Light' album is a lot of fun... the thing to do is listen with an open mind and take it for what it is... they are still capable of doing interesting stuff- but 'as good as when Freddy Mercury was alive'? He was so important, I can't see them recapturing the magic of when he was still there... just his very presence added something, and now it's gone...

Anyway, if I'm not mistaken, this effort is a free single to mark World Aids Day... that's not precisely an album plus a world tour... wait, they just did that ;) Anyway, considering that it was Aids that did for Freddy, it's quite sweet that the remaining members are doing stuff for the charity...

Hey guys, here's the link to get the track, you can judge for yourself, eh? http://www.queenonline.com/news/588/ Interesting article too- "Taylor wrote the song as a gift to Mandela and performed it live for him for the first time with Brian May and Dave Stewart at the inaugural 46664 concert in Cape Town that month. The song carries the message that HIV AIDS is something that can affect any one of us no matter our sexual or racial status."

So yeah... what's the verdict? for the first few seconds it doesn't sound like Queen, I think it's Paul Rogers vocal... and the synths aren't doing much, but when the guitar kicks in, the song picks up, then the music builds up, adding an electric guitar, then some drums, and then it kicks off, soaring guitar, a bit of twiddling, and more serious drums, basically a full-on slice of Queen doing what they're good at. I'd've preferred something a bit more up-tempo, but It's not so bad overall, eh? and it's free, so who's complaining if it doesn't necessarily make the next 'best of'?

It will never be the same without Freddy!!!
I love Queen too! Thanks for the memories...........
