Question: Where these deaths a tragedy or derserved due to the amount of drugs drink and mental behaviour shown?/
I do not have a personal opinion on this but have been reading the biographys and reading articles on the Internet about it today and there so many different views on the subject would be nice to hear yours.

Drug addiction and mental illness is tragic. These guys were victims of their own disease and doing. Were they irresponsible and made poor choices? Definitely. But did they deserve their fate?? Death. Probably not. There's no clear answer, it's all a matter of opinion. Not to mention, living the celebrity lifestyle can become an addiction too. Look at Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, Anna Nicole Simpson...the list goes on and on. Do I agree some people deserve their fate, maybe, sometimes. But death is/should be reserved for extreme cases. I don't think Phoenix & Cobain fit that criteria. I could come up with several other celebrities, political figures and sport players who fit the mold better and what they deserve.

Curt Cobain deserved it, but River was an amazing actor and was not as heavy a user as Cobain. River was at least able to keep off the drugs to be able to shot movies and act incredibly, while Kurt was most likely high while recording and doing concerts.

What do you mean, Kurt Cobain deserved it? he didn't kill himself with drugs anyway, he shot himself. River Phoenix was a mediocre actor who is famous for dying young
Kurt Cobain had emotional problems from a very young age - they started when his parents divorced. He was prescribed Ritalin for a few months as a boy.........he started to smoke pot and do acid as a teen - this was to blot out the pain of what was going on with his family life. He also had a long-term stomach complaint which was why he did drugs also. He hated the trappings that came with fame, and when he married Courtney Love and they had Frances, Kurt tried to stop the drugs, but as Courtney was also a user this was difficult. At the time he died, he and Courtney were having marrige problems, and I guess he just had enough and decided to end it all. Although some people think that Kurt was murdered............

River Phoenix, well I thought that was a tragic accident. He was a young, good looking man, with a great career ahead of him..............
