Theatre: Can you be TOO close to a stage?!
Question: I have got tickets for March 2008. They are right in the middle in the front row....I am in too minds whether it's GREAT because we'll be so close to stage or NOT because we might be too close? Is that possible? Anyone experienced being too close? Or is close great at the Theatre!?

It all depends on the show, you as as an individual and the set up of the theatre.
I like to sit about 3, 4, 5 rows in.
Some shows have audience participation and then it is good fun to sit at the front.
If you can here and smell their farts then your to close.
Yes. You can be too close to the stage. Usually I will go for something that is around the 5th to 7th row or so. But it will also depend on the size of the stage and the theatre, as well as the shape and gradient of it. To me, i define being too close to the stage when i can see the lights overhead which can sometimes be a little too glaring and can cause spots in your eyes. But it's good to be close to the stage if you are a beginner and you're learning more about ow the stage works. Did that when I was learning theatre studies. Would recommend that you check if you can change your tickets to a few rows behind just to play safe. :)
i think the best place for you to be on is at the balcony... if not, i think you can prefer to be 'close' as you say... well, the closer the better you enjoy the theater show more
Might depend what you're going to see. It's no fun being right in front of part of the sound system. You could be "picked on" by an artiste. Do you want neck ache from looking up all night? Or you may not be able to see what's happening at the back of the stage.
