Now for semi-obscure SIXTIES bands, one in particular...?!

Question: Who out here was a fan of (or, if a youngun', has discovered) Spirit?
(it was a great day for me when all of their old albums were out on disc --- I'll let my vinyl copies sit)

I'm a huge fan also! I have all of their vinyl, along with their reissued CD's. I still prefer the vinyl, though the remaster CD's of '12 Dreams', and their 1st album sounds pretty good.
I saw them live in 1970 (original lineup), and again in 1977/8.
The later lineup was a 3 piece with Randy California, Ed Cassidy, and Larry 'Fuzzy' Knight. What an incredible performance!
The previous answer mentioned Jo Jo Gunne, whom I love as well. Have you ever listened to Randy's album 'Kapt. Kopter and the (Fabulous) Twirly Birds?' It's great too.

Ed Cassidy is Randy's step father. The old guy must be in his mid 80's by now!
I always enjoyed Ed's jazz session work that he did with the likes of; Roland Kirk, Gerry Mulligan, and Cannonball Adderley
He was a very respected jazz musician back in the 40's & 50's.
My favorite album is 'The Family That Plays Together...' 'Aren't You Glad' is still one of my favorite songs!

Here's a question for you; Do you know how Randy came by the last name California? His birth name was 'Randy Wolf'.

Big Spirit fan here.

Fav album: Spirt
Fav Song: Mr Skin

Followed Ferguson's and Andes' career faithfully and got off on Jo Jo Gunne too.
