Why do we always presume Humpty Dumpty is an egg?!

Question: It doesn't mention eggs anywhere in the rhyme!

Answers: It doesn't mention eggs anywhere in the rhyme!

Because he is an egg,

Its common knowledge that horses are not very good at mending eggs and the "kings horses" in said nursery ryhme did not disprove this rumour.

Merry Xmas

Because the illustrations show him as an egg.

No idea, I've never thought of that before!

Because...we're cool like that.

They've always depicted him as an egg. I guess

Because he is the shape of an egg and when he falls of the wall he breaks like an egg and all of the pictures of him illustrate him like an egg

because they couldn't put him back together again!

idk dats jus how dey drew him n the nursery rhyme book

That is a very good point!!! I never thought of that! Do you maybe have too much time on your hands? Just kidding.

Because in the book he's egg shaped.

Isn't that amazing how the image of the rhyme has been imbedded in our youth. Thank you for pointing this out. Wonder how this rhyme began?

The rhyme was originally a riddle--you had to figure out that Humpty was an egg.

thats what its about tho !

u never dunked a boiled egg with soldiers ?

I didn't think of that....

because he IS an egg. . . . . der

Because, "Fractured Fairytales" said, "All the Kings horses and all the kings men, couldn't put Humpty together again ,so they made an Omelette"!
Merry Christmas!
