Acoustic Guitar....beginner?!
Question: I have a used Yamaha FG 405 that my grandparents bought me about 15 years ago. I have never tried to learn to play it. Is this a good guitar to learn on, or should I look towards something else and save this one for when I get better? I was thinking about getting a package deal from Guitar Center on maybe a Fender acoustic with the instructional DVD, case, tuner, etc......
Also...which are better...Fender or Yamaha?

a guitar is a guitar. the only thing that makes any guitar different is the tone and its ability to hold tune. You can learn to play guitar on anything. just go an pick up a couple of mel bay books and sit down for a hour or 2 a night and hack it out. i can tell you know that an acoustic will tear your fingers up pretty bad at first. best of luck my friend
the only thing i know about starting to learn guitar is to start with an acoustic... it makes your fingers much stronger, and the callouces (sp?) become thicker, faster
