Answers: What does Noel gallagher meant to say with wonderwall (the song and the name of the song)? Doesn't makes sense to me!!

Something/someone that he can always rely upon...

The song takes its name from the 1968 album Wonderwall Music by George Harrison, at the time still a member of the Beatles. This in turn was written as a soundtrack to the film 'Wonderwall'. (see cite 1 in source box)

The media said it was about Meg Matthews (then his partner, now his ex). He refuted that claim.
Noel said "It's a song about an imaginary friend who's gonna come and save you from yourself" (see cite 2 in source box)

I wish there was an excellent/accurate website that gave the meaning of every song, there are few that try but they're not that good.

it's an affectionate term for someone you love.

i think it might be a pet name for his then, g/f though.

I think his favourite team, Man City, had just successfully defended a free kick on the edge of the box, a "wonderwall"

I suppose some kind of protection?

or to a lesser probability:

Entrapment?

Some one who you find yourself thinking about all the time, the person who you are compleatly infatuated with. the one that you look for on your buddylist everytime you sign online. the one who has a heart next to their name in your phone book. the person that you find yourself completely head over heals for.

your my everything .
i love oasis .

Doesn't to me either. and after all your my wonderwall. hrm. maybe hes implying that shes like a really special wall. The kind of ones that hold your house together and keep the draught out. Holds him together and keeps him warm, like a wonderwall. sorry for going on a bit but dont have much of an idea really.

The general consensus is that this song is about Noel Gallagher's then girlfriend Meg Matthews, who is compared with a schoolboy's wall to which posters of footballers and Pop stars are attached. Noel later married then divorced Meg Matthews. However, according to Q magazines 1001 Best Songs Ever, this was not about Matthews. Noel is quoted as saying, "The meaning of that song was taken away from me by the media who jumped on it. And how do you tell your Mrs. it's not about her once she's read it is? It's about an imaginary friend who's going to come and save you from yourself."

"The song takes its name from the 1968 album Wonderwall Music by George Harrison, at the time still a member of the Beatles. Harrison's album was in fact a soundtrack to the film Wonderwall, but the film has remained unknown by the general public."

So if the song was named after a music soundtrack album, then what did the film the soundtrack was made for mean?

Well the film was about an eccentric professor, living completely secluded in his apartment. A model moves in next to him and he becomes fascinated of her. "He drills holes in her walls and ceiling and peeps on her day and night."

So in simple terms, Noel Gallagher wrote a song about a woman who he had an interest in, and named it after some other material that had influenced him.

Exactly which girl Gallagher wrote the song about is in dispute, but I think the important part is that it was about a girl, much in the same way the film Wonderwall focused on a girl.
