I believe it was a ficticious "Captain Tuttle". The boys had cooked up this non-existant soldier and were in danger of being caught. He had to die, so they finished him off.
I thought that was Hawkeye.
Capt. Johnathan Tuttle, or "Johnny" as Frank liked to call him...lol :) Also, wasn't he replaced by Major Murdock?..lol
