Guitar - Pitch raising techniques?!

Question: im trying to finish learning the final part yet to learn of Ten Ton Brick by Hurt. At the start of the second verse they raise the pitch slowly but by a lot. A slide can't be used because the chords are like x,12,x,14,x,x - x,7,x,9,x,x - etc. The pitch needs to be raised too far to be done by bending the strings, it goes up by about 4 or 5 semitones. The whammy bar can't be used because it can't stretch the strings far enough and the strumming is too fast to do it at the same time. So apart from a slide, bending the strings, and the whammy bar, i was wondering what other ways there were to raise the pitch, and if some kind of effects pedal is the only other way, what kind of pedal would do it.
